Goblins live in tribes which are ruled by the strongest of the group. These
tribes vary in size from small groups of 4 or 5 and some up to 400 or more.
Goblins tend to settle near other civilized areas to raid for food, livestock,
tools, weapons, and other supplies. Goblins will infest local mountains and
cliffs first as they are talented at mining and carving caves to protect
themselves It is common for goblins to live with non-goblins like orcs, ogres
and trolls that exploit goblins as disposable soldiers.
Goblins have a poor grasp of strategy and are cowardly by nature, tending
to flee the field if a battle turns against them. With proper supervision,
though, they can implement reasonably complex plans, and in such circumstances
their numbers can be a deadly advantage. Many goblins fight among themselves
and keep their numbers in check.
Goblins stand from three to three and a half feet tall and weight around
40 to 50 pounds which also allows them to be great at riding. Goblins walk
upright with arms that nearly reach their knees.
A goblin's skin color ranges from yellow through any shade of orange to a
deep red; usually all members of a single tribe are about the same color with
eyes that are usually dull and glazed, varying from red to yellow. Goblins wear
clothing of dark leather, tending toward drab, soiled-looking colors.
Described as 'hideously ugly', they have a broad nose that sits flat face
with pointed ears and a wide mouth. Their mouth contains, small but sharp fangs.
